The Truth in Black & White About Stephen E. Bradley of Bradley & Associates

Birmingham's alternative "city paper" Black & White exposes the complicated and sinister web of one of Alabama's most infamous "public relations hustlers" and the ubiquitous damage that one man can accomplish when he practices to deceive.

Not at all content to remain confined in one state, Bradley's expanded his web of duplicity.

In 2008, Mr. Bradley created a multi-state network consortium of like-minded public relations, advertising and governmental affairs agencies to spin out beyond Alabama's borders through the Issues Management Network.

Coming soon to an area near you is trouble like you cannot begin to imagine.

Mr. David Pelfry explains why in the following issue of Black & White with his featured story: "Spinning a Web."

  1. This cat is a meretricious hired gun who sells himself to the highest bidder. He's the kind of guy who probably tore the wings off butterflies and kicked the stew out of puppies when he was child just for the fun of it.
    Hell of an article Pelfrey!

  2. It's about time someone connected the dots about about BARD and Bradley and these fleece jobs they are walking right back into AGAIN!
I hope the Birmingham Non News reads this and finally gets it, but they are so enthralled by by BB and the NB even when faced with the real truth about what a scam it is they still won't get it.
I would love for some reporter to ask Mayor Bell what he thinks of the story.

  3. Is it just me or does anyone else see the mask of venality being ripped off Mr. Bradley?

  4. There were facts about Emelle that I have not seen before. Especially chilling was the attempt by the ADH to hide all records from view. DPS knew, governor knew, everybody knew and DID NOTHING!
What happened there was unconscionable and in my opinion the work of political and corporate psychopaths, defined as persons who are incapable of feeling remorse for what they do.
How many people died there from the toxic dump they thought was going to be a brick factory?
Emelle is one of the most shameful stories of environmental racism and corporate greed ever recorded in the annals of profits before people shame!

  6. Wow!
I never thought I would see the day when someone would do this story!
    Thank you Black&White!!!!!
Let's take JeffCo's thought a little further and ask Shelby and Bachus for a comment on the article.

  7. The state will have to put up matching funds totaling almost $1 billion dollars for this bad idea road. All 52 miles of it. I see no state benefit for Alabama and a whole lot of benefit for private landowners, road builders and asphalt companies.
Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the parent company of White Rock Quarries, Vecellio & Grogan also in the road building and asphalt business?
Everything is starting to make a lot more sense about why the Vincent Town Council and Shelby County Commission have pushed so hard for a quarry close to Highway 280.

  8. "I find it irresponsible to support a budget that does not include substantial reductions in federal spending," Shelby said in an emailed statement this morning. "What was proposed in H.R. 1473 was a start, but only a small start that fails to sufficiently address our nation's bleak fiscal reality. We have come to a point where we are out of money and out of time. If we don't stop our reckless spending habits now, then when?"

    Exactly Senator.
    When?
After another 5 billion of federal funds gets wasted in Alabama for a boondoggle road designed to gift your campaign donors?

  9. I wonder how the cocktail set of sheeple is feeling knowing they have been had by the architects of Blueprint Birmingham?

  10. Whatever the circulation area is for B&W it's not wide enough for this story. Absolute required reading everywhere in Alabama!

  11. Jefferson County has been a paddling dog with leeches since the super sewer scandal and we shouldn't surprised that the dog has gone off into the deep water and is now surrounded by sharks. They just will never learn no matter how much it winds up costing them. This is not even laughable anymore because every tax payer in the country will be on the hook for the Zombie Highway.

  13. It is my hope that this story would go viral and expose these so called pillars of business society for what they really are. This whole NB project stinks and with this story we are beginning to understand why! Now it is time citizens ask SHELBY and BACHUS why they are willing to spend $5 billion on a boondoggle road when they keep putting out press releases about saving money. But we know the reason, US Steel and Drummond are their biggest campaign contributors. More dirty laundry.

These confidence men are disinformation doctors: "You there, hand me those truths while I get my scalpels."

They give liars a bad name.

  15. Anonymous said, "It is my hope that this story would go viral." I say AMEN to that! This was a magnum opus, to be sure, and deserves national attention.

  16. It's too bad this article did not come out while the legislature was still in session and some of our lawmakers were asked some pointed questions.

Governor Bentley appointed Bradley as his transition team head and he should also answer some questions about his choice.

If appointing Bradley is an example of his judgment abilities then it is clear his judgment leaves a lot to be desired.

Mr. Pelfry has gone where no one else has dared to and I salute him for his courage to expose some great wrongs.

He's proof that investigative journalism still means something to some writers.

  17. Matt Taibbi tore into Jefferson County for the super sewer debacle. Would love to see him get them by the shorts again on this story.
Lambs to slaughter all over again.
What's with the- Questions? we don't need no stinkin' questions! Why don't they have to answer questions? Just trust us, hand over the money and it will all be a-okay? I think not!

  18. Here's to an end to impunity--These folks were almost carelessly blatant in some of their actions.

When a bunch of rich and powerful people expect to have their druthers paid for by a program intended to help the poorest of the poor, there at least should be shame.

  19. Has the DOJ just decided to go on permanent vacation and left Alabama to its own devices?
I don't get it. We are talking about a whole lot of federal money here after all.

  20. This article is worthy of national awards. I've read it three times and each time, I gained a new appreciation for the work the author put into his piece. Outstanding work!
